Ukraine receives aid from Germany, while Ukrainian forces control 92 settlements in Russia - Monday brief

Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update
- Russian forces attacked Ukraine with Shahed drones overnight. The air defense forces managed to shoot down 11 out of 11 kamikaze drones.
- In the Rostov region, an oil depot has been burning for over a day after being attacked by Ukrainian drones.
- Soldiers from one of Ukraine's Special Operations Forces units demonstrated part of their work detecting and destroying enemy forces in Russia's Kursk region.

The new aid package includes:
- One IRIS-T SLS air defense system;
- 14,000 rounds of 155 mm caliber ammunition;
- 10 unmanned surface vessels;
- 16 Vector reconnaissance drones with spare parts.

Berlin promises to support Ukraine for as long as necessary
According to Bloomberg, Berlin commented on a publication by Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung (FAZ) stating that the Ministry of Finance allegedly will not approve additional requests for military aid to Ukraine due to budgetary constraints.
However, Fabian Leber, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Finance, stated that Chancellor Olaf Scholz's ruling coalition and its international partners will rely on part of the support for the Kyiv government funded by profits from frozen assets of the Russian central bank.
Ukrainian army controls 92 settlements in Kursk region, Zelenskyy
"Ukrainian forces continue their defensive operation in designated areas of the Kursk region. As of today, our troops control more than 1,250 square kilometers of enemy territory and 92 settlements," stated President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
According to him, this operation has become Ukraine's largest investment in liberating defenders from Russian captivity.
India and Ukraine confirm Modi's visit to Kyiv
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Ukraine on Friday, August 23. He is scheduled to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The Office of the President also mentioned that Zelenskyy and Modi will discuss issues of bilateral cooperation during their meeting. Additionally, some documents between Ukraine and India are expected to be signed.
Earlier, Bloomberg reported that New Delhi ruled out the role of a mediator in ending Russia's war in Ukraine. However, Modi agreed to relay messages between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
