Zelenskyy: Another interceptor against jet-powered Shaheds passes successful test

Ukraine has successfully tested another interceptor designed to counter Russian jet-powered drones, according to a statement by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The head of state discussed a report from Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Mykhailo Drapatyi about a new step by Ukrainian manufacturers.
"There has been a successful test of another interceptor against Russian jet-powered drones. A Shahed was successfully hit, but some aspects of the interceptor's control system still need refinement. We are continuing the work — more time is needed," the president said.
Zelenskyy added that he had discussed further military operations and long-range strikes with Drapatyi.
"Together with Yevhenii Khmara (Ukraine's defense minister, ed.) and the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces, we identified the next priority targets, the resources required for this, and the necessary preparatory measures. The results of our long-range impact on Russia's oil-based war foundation are significant enough, and this is precisely what provides the necessary potential for diplomacy," the president emphasized.
The head of state noted that Ukraine is ready for de-escalation steps, but partners must ensure "Russia's honesty in implementing its de-escalation measures regarding our critical infrastructure — in a long-term and reliable manner."
On September 14, Zelenskyy stated that countering jet-powered Shahed drones is the main challenge facing Ukraine's defense industry. He noted that new developments are being tested at an accelerated pace.
Earlier, the head of state also said that Ukraine needs joint weapons production with partners to counter Russian jet-powered drones.
