Russian army attacked Ukraine with Shahed drones at night
During the night of August 18-19, 2024, Russian forces launched an attack on Ukraine using Shahed drones. All 11 drones were intercepted and shot down by air defense forces, according to the Commander of the Ukrainian Air Force, Mykola Oleshchuk.
According to him, the attacks were launched from the Kursk region and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia.
As a result of the air defense engagement by Ukraine's Defense Forces, including mobile fire groups, anti-aircraft missile units, aviation, and electronic warfare systems of the Air Force, all 11 enemy Shahed 136/131 drones were shot down.
The Russian attacks occurred over the territories of Mykolaiv, Cherkasy, Vinnytsia, Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Sumy, and Donetsk regions.
Night attack
Late in the evening on August 15 and into August 16, air raid alerts were declared in Kyiv and several Ukrainian regions due to the threat of ballistic weapons. Additionally, drones were detected in the airspace of some areas. As previously mentioned, a total of 11 drones were launched.
In particular, explosions were heard in the Kyiv region. According to the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, air defense forces were engaged in countering the enemy drones.
