New security commitments
On Saturday, February 24, the President of Ukraine signed agreements on security commitments with the Prime Ministers of Canada and Italy - Justin Trudeau and Giorgia Meloni. These are the fifth and sixth countries to undertake similar commitments.
RBC-Ukraine reported on the contents of the documents signed with Italy and Canada.
President Zelenskyy's press conference
Zelenskyy held a major press conference on the second anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
He mentioned Ukrainian losses in the war and talked about plans for 2024, and how they might be affected.
Lukashenko gears up for Belarus presidential elections, threatening to hold onto power
Alexander Lukashenko announced that he would run for president of Belarus again, hinting that he would not share power.
"I will, I will, I will. Let them know (the Belarusian opposition - ed.) that I will run! And the more difficult the situation, the more they try to pressure you, me, and society, the sooner I will go to these elections. Don't worry, we will do what is necessary for Belarus," he said.
German Foreign Minister visits Odesa, announces conference on recovery
German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock visited Odesa on February 24.
"The port of Odesa stands for the resilience of Ukraine. Because it is the lifeline of the world, we are securing the largest terminal operated in Ukraine with federal guarantees. Air defense also creates the space for investment - the success is evident," Baerbock said.
US National Guard Apache helicopter crashed, casualties reported
