Unknown drones attacked the Russian cities of Penza and Novokuybyshevsk in the Samara region. As a result of the strikes, a fire broke out near an oil refinery and on the territory of two defense enterprises, according to Russian public sources and Telegram channels.

At 02:40, a drone strike threat alert was announced in the Samara region. Temporary flight restrictions for aircraft were imposed in Samara.

Around 05:00, residents of Novokuybyshevsk in the Samara region reported loud noises in the sky.

The Telegram channel Exilenova+ posted eyewitness videos showing that drones struck the Novokuybyshevsk oil refinery.

Drone strikes in Penza

In addition, residents reported between five and eight explosions in the city of Penza.

According to locals, one of the drones was shot down by an air defense system over a forest. A cloud of smoke was visible at the crash site.

At the same time, eyewitnesses filmed the moment when drones struck the Electropribor Production Association.

The Electropribor Production Association, located in Penza, is connected to the defense sector and the execution of state defense orders.

In particular, the plant produces:

  • means of cryptographic communication protection — encryptors, secure modems, multiplexers;
  • switches and equipment for digital networks in military control systems;
  • hardware solutions for aviation, armored vehicles, ships, and spacecraft;
  • complexes for confidential transmission of voice, graphics, and documents.

Also, drones struck the Radio Factory in Penza.

Drone attack on Russia

On the night of August 2, unknown attack drones struck several regions of Russia.

Explosions were heard in Lipetsk, Ryazan, as well as in temporarily occupied Crimea. Additionally, explosions were reported in Taganrog and the Voronezh region. Preliminary reports indicate that a military airfield and oil depots were hit, and fires broke out at the impact sites.

Drones also attacked Russia on the night of August 1. In particular, explosions were heard in Taganrog, Rostov region.
