President Volodymyr Zelenskyy told lawmakers from the Servant of the People party about the possibility of ending the hot phase of the war by November. And there is an explanation for this, an informed source told RBC-Ukraine.
According to the source, Zelenskyy’s message was that "everyone needs to push harder," including in work with international partners.
"We assume that the Americans intend to try to 'quiet things down' before their elections in the fall," the source said.
According to the interlocutor, the US administration understands that the Republican Party may face difficulties in the congressional elections in November.
Therefore, the source said, the White House "will try to resolve" the situation regarding Russia’s war against Ukraine.
Zelenskyy met today with the Servant of the People parliamentary faction. After the meeting, lawmaker Olha Vasylevska-Smahliuk said that the President mentioned November as a possible timeframe for ending the hot phase of the war. However, there is a condition — Ukraine must receive security guarantees.
In addition, during his evening address, Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine had stabilized the front line. According to him, this was achieved in part thanks to drone strikes.
Meanwhile, according to Bloomberg, people close to Russian leader Vladimir Putin have begun speaking about a deadlock in the war against Ukraine. However, Putin wants the war to end on his own terms.
More about the situation inside Russia and why some there have started to recognize Putin’s inability to win the war can be found in the RBC-Ukraine report.
