During today’s massive Russian attack, the Russians deployed a significant number of ballistic missiles. The strikes were launched from various directions, allowing Russians to disperse their weapons, says Yurii Ihnat, spokesperson for the Ukrainian Air Force.
According to him, Russia used 11 ballistic missiles this time. As a result of the Russian attack, 8 hits were recorded in the Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, and Poltava regions.
Ukrainian air defense forces managed to intercept one missile; two others did not reach their targets, and search operations are currently underway to locate their impact sites.
Ihnat says that the strikes were launched from various regions of Russia, specifically from the Voronezh and Rostov regions, which allowed the Russians to disperse their missile assets.
He also notes that Ukrainian critical infrastructure facilities were the main targets of the Russian attacks.
Separately, the Ukrainian Air Force representative comments on the Russian drone attack, noting that Russian drones are increasingly equipped with communication channels and modernized components, which complicates the work of Ukrainian air defense.
According to him, a total of about 150 aerial targets were shot down or neutralized, of which 149 were strike drones out of 164 launched.
Ihnat also emphasizes that the effectiveness of air defense remains high, particularly thanks to the work of aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, mobile fire groups, and unmanned systems units.
He adds that Russia frequently uses drones near the front line, which shortens response times and makes it harder to take them down, but the air defense system continues to scale up countermeasures, including anti-drone drones and other modern technologies.
