Ukraine is "doing quite well" in producing its own long‑range weapons, which are already being used against Russia today. Mass production of the Flamingo cruise missiles is expected by the end of 2025, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said at a briefing.
"We are using new missiles, such as the Flamingo. I won’t tell you the quantity. We expect mass production by the end of the year. We also have our Neptunes. We have used different types of Neptune, which are already in mass production. There’s the standard version and the long-range one. And it’s also performing well," the Ukrainian leader said.
Zelenskyy noted that everyone in Ukraine and Russia can see, based on the results of the past two months, the massive responses to Russian attacks on the energy sector of the aggressor country, which earns money from this war.
Long-range strikes on Russia
On October 31, Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are preparing new long-range strikes on priority targets within the aggressor country in the near future.
According to the president, Ukraine has already carried out nine strikes using the Flamingo missile, which is currently Ukraine’s most advanced cruise missile.
He noted that there had been production issues with these missiles but assured that the state order would still be fulfilled. Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine had found its own resources to fund a batch of Flamingo missiles, so the country will have a certain number of missiles, the exact figure of which remains classified.
On the night of October 31, the Ukrainian Navy struck Russia using upgraded Neptune missiles, targeting the Oryol and Bryansk regions.
As a result, the Oryol thermal power plant was hit, and the Novobryanskaya substation, which is crucial for electricity supply in the Russian border regions, was destroyed.
