Ukraine calls an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council following massive Russian strikes on Ukrainian cities that have killed civilians, Ambassador to the UN Andrii Melnyk said.
Ukraine is initiating an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council in response to the latest attacks on Ukrainian cities.
According to the diplomat, Russian missiles are deliberately targeting civilians.
"Following Russia's latest barbaric atrocities against Ukrainian civilians in Dnipro, Chernihiv and Kremenchuk, where Russian missiles deliberately slaughtered 20 Ukrainians and wounded dozens more, we are convening an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council," Melnyk said.
The diplomat also took a strong stance on Russia's membership in the international organization, calling for Russia to be expelled once and for all.
As reported, Russia is intensifying its strikes on Ukraine, seeking to put pressure on the civilian population and force Kyiv to make concessions ahead of winter.
It was also reported that on the night of October 30, Russia targeted Ukraine with drones, ballistic missiles, and aircraft, with nearly 20 strikes recorded. Ukrainian air defenders shot down dozens of hostile targets during the air raid.
Meanwhile, diplomatic efforts are continuing on the international stage. In particular, Latvia will chair the UN Security Council for the first time, with support for Ukraine among its priorities, giving it an opportunity to more actively push for accountability for Russia.
