UK could deploy troops to Ukraine within week of ceasefire

The United Kingdom plans to send its troops to Ukraine within the first week after a ceasefire is announced, reports The Telegraph.
According to the publication, the plan involves hundreds of British military instructors and engineers who would help restore Ukraine's Armed Forces in the event of a pause in hostilities.
Prime Minister Keir Starmer has also approved the use of Royal Air Force fighter jets to patrol Ukrainian skies alongside allies to prevent ceasefire violations by Russia.
The decision was made against the backdrop of ongoing talks between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, which are about to begin in Anchorage, Alaska.
Trump stated that he would not be satisfied if the meeting did not result in an agreement on a ceasefire: "I want to see a ceasefire rapidly... I want the killing to stop.."
UK Defense Secretary John Healey emphasized that in the event of an attack on British troops in Ukraine, they would respond. This would mark a significant increase in London's involvement in supporting Kyiv as part of the Coalition of the Willing initiative, which British and European allies have been working on for several months.
Earlier, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda stressed that countries joining the Coalition of the Willing must be ready to send their troops to ensure security in Ukraine. According to him, Lithuania is also ready to contribute.
Later, UK Defense Secretary John Healey did not rule out that if a ceasefire agreement is reached, London would be ready to send its troops to Ukraine to help enforce it.
