Moscow says Putin was the first foreign leader to call the US president, and that during a nearly an hour-long conversation, the two discussed both personal matters and politics, according to a statement from Russian President Vladimir Putin's aide Yury Ushakov.

The top Russian official states that the conversation between the two leaders was friendly and frank and lasted about an hour. The aide specifically noted the exact duration — 55 minutes.

"Donald Trump was moved by what Putin said, thanked him, and noted that Vladimir Putin was the first of all foreign leaders to call him at the White House," Ushakov said.

He added that the conversation was informal and included a certain amount of humor.

Ukraine: What Moscow says Trump said

According to Ushakov, Trump again spoke in favor of ending hostilities in Ukraine and expressed readiness to influence Kyiv and the US European partners.

The aide also said the presidents agreed on a new visit to Russia by Trump's special envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, in the near future.

Ultimatum to Zelenskyy, Holocaust reminder

Putin stated, according to Ushakov, that no attempts by Kyiv to strike civilian infrastructure in Russia will change the situation on the battlefield.

The Russian leader also reiterated his longstanding claim that if Volodymyr Zelenskyy wants a meeting, he should come to Moscow.

Ushakov also said that during the call, Putin told Trump that Zelenskyy should not forget the tragedy of the Holocaust.

Separately, the Russian leader reportedly thanked Trump's wife, Melania Trump, for what Ushakov described as her role in reuniting Russian and Ukrainian children with their families.

What Putin said about Trump's qualities

The Russian presidential aide said Putin expressed respect for Trump's fighting spirit, his ability to take a hit, overcome obstacles, and persistently achieve his goals.

In addition to the phone call, Putin sent a written congratulatory message in which, according to Ushakov, he noted the extraordinary personal qualities of the birthday celebrant that contribute to his success as a person and a politician. No gifts were sent.

Ushakov also shared one detail about Trump personally.

"I can even reveal a secret that the number 80 is not particularly pleasant for Donald Trump, because he is full of energy and strength," a Putin aide said.

Not just congratulations: What else was discussed

Beyond birthday greetings, the leaders reportedly discussed key issues of the current international situation, the development of US-Russia bilateral relations, and possible contacts between representatives of both sides.

They also discussed the situation around Iran and a memorandum of understanding being prepared between the United States and the Islamic Republic.

"Donald Trump said that the agreement is close and he expects that the results of complex but ultimately successful negotiations may be made public," Ushakov conveyed.

Notable that on June 14 this year, Donald Trump marked his 80th birthday — making him the oldest president in US history. The US Constitution only sets a minimum age requirement (35) for the presidency, with no upper limit.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also held a phone call with the US president on June 14.
