Russia strikes SBU building in central Kyiv, Zelenskyy says

Russian forces struck the SBU building in Kyiv today, September 4. An enemy drone was flying directly toward the office of SBU chief Oleksandr Poklad, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"I spoke with the Head of the Security Service of Ukraine, Oleksandr Poklad. Unfortunately, a Russian drone struck the central building of the Security Service of Ukraine on Volodymyrska Street in Kyiv, across from St. Sophia Cathedral," the head of state said.
The president said that all emergency services are at the scene and that those affected will receive the necessary assistance.
"The drone was aimed directly at the office of the Head of the Security Service in that building. I instructed Poklad to deliver an appropriate, tangible response and, where possible, one that mirrors this strike, to the Russians once everything is ready," Zelenskyy stressed.

People injured
According to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, as of 4:33 p.m., seven people were reported injured in Kyiv's Shevchenkivskyi district. Six of them were taken to hospitals.

The mayor said that the fire at a non-residential building, whose roof caught fire after a drone fell, had been extinguished. Part of the building's ceiling and an exterior wall collapsed.
The number of injured people has meanwhile risen to nine, seven of whom were hospitalized.
Earlier, on September 4, Russian forces attacked the Kyiv region with drones. The strike damaged warehouses in the Brovary district.
It was also reported that a fire broke out today at an industrial facility in Brovary, Kyiv region, following the Russian attack. Smoke spread across the city, prompting local authorities to urge residents to take precautions.
In addition, the Kyiv region came under another Russian attack overnight. The strike damaged warehouse facilities in Sofiivska Borshchahivka.
