Ten people remain unaccounted for following the Russian strike on Kyiv on July 2, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Rescue operations have been underway for a second day at three locations in Kyiv following last night’s Russian strikes. Rescuers have already cleared much of the rubble, but 10 people remain unaccounted for.
"The search operation will continue for as long as needed. As of now, it is known that 30 people were killed in yesterday’s attack on Kyiv. My condolences to all their families and loved ones. Nearly one hundred people were wounded, including children," the head of state says in a statement.
Russian attacks on Ukraine
Zelenskyy reports that in the evening, the Russians attacked Kryvyi Rih, striking a garage cooperative. Seven people were injured.
Overnight, a residential building in the Kharkiv region was attacked, leaving six people wounded. Among them were three children.
"Yesterday afternoon, the Russians launched missile strikes on the regional hospital in Kherson. They knew exactly what they were targeting and that there was no military purpose in it. Sadly, a doctor was killed, and a nurse was also wounded," the statement says.
Zelenskyy also says that overnight, the Russians in the Sumy region killed four people, including a mother and her daughter, in a drone strike on a high-rise building. The child was not even two years old.
The Russians are suffering heavy losses on the front lines, so they have changed their offensive tactics. Now they are infiltrating in small groups of two or three people.
However, the Institute for the Study of War has analyzed that Russia has reduced the number of large-scale attacks on Ukraine. Two key reasons may explain this trend.
