The Russians have changed their offensive tactics due to heavy losses of equipment and personnel. Now Russia is trying to infiltrate in small groups between Ukrainian positions, according to Yevhen Lasiichuk, Brigadier General of the 7th Rapid Reaction Corps of the Air Assault Forces.
Russia abandoned armored vehicles
Previously, Russia attempted to advance in large groups, using armored vehicles and cars. The infantry would drive as close as possible to Ukrainian positions and then launch an assault.
According to Lasiichuk, such vehicles had become too easy a target for Ukrainian defenders. Therefore, the Russian army command decided to change its approach to offensive operations.
Infiltration in small groups—the main tactic
The Brigadier General explains that the Russians are now operating in small groups of 2–3 people. They try to move unnoticed between Ukrainian battle lines, taking advantage of the terrain and weather conditions.
"Armored columns carrying twenty or thirty soldiers toward Ukrainian lines are largely a thing of the past — "too easy a target for us now," Lasiichuk said. In their place, Russian forces have adopted infiltration tactics, sending small groups of two or three soldiers to slip through gaps in Ukrainian positions under cover of terrain and bad weather, trying to dig in deep behind the line," he explains.
Russia is trying to infiltrate by taking advantage of the terrain and weather conditions, penetrating deep between our combat formations, and establishing a foothold there.
However, this is not a very effective tactic for the Russian troops—they are still suffering heavy losses on the front lines.
Near Pokrovsk, the Russians have begun employing a new tactic involving the use of drones to advance along this section of the front.
Over 20 countries have expressed a desire to join the coalition in support of Ukraine.
This is an initiative aimed at strengthening international aid to the Ukrainian army. The number of coalition members continues to grow.
