Russian drone fragments found again in Romania: What is known
On Friday, October 4, fragments of a strike drone, launched by Russia towards Ukraine, were once again discovered on the territory of Romania, according to the Ministry of Defense of Romania.
According to the ministry, the drone fragments were found near the Litcov Channel, approximately one kilometer from the St. George Mouth in the Danube Delta.
"A team of specialists from the Ministry of Defense, the Romanian Intelligence Service, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs searched the designated perimeter, from which fragments of the drone of Russian origin were retrieved for analysis in accordance with legal procedures," the statement said.
They emphasized that the drone was discovered in a suburban area and did not hit any infrastructure elements.
"The Ministry of National Defense strongly condemns the attacks carried out by the Russian Federation against Ukrainian civilian facilities and infrastructure, which are unjustifiable and in serious contradiction with the norms of international law," the Romanian Ministry of Defense added.
Not the first case
Since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Romania has repeatedly reported discovering fragments of Russian drones on its territory.
For example, after the Russian attack on Ukraine on July 31, new drone fragments were found in the Ceatalchioi area of Tulcea County.
Additionally, on August 20, fragments of Russian drones were again discovered in Romania.
Similar findings were reported several times in September.
Moreover, according to the Air Force, on the night of September 8, a Russian drone entered Romania from the Odesa region. At that time, residents of Romanian counties bordering Ukraine received warnings about the threat of falling objects.
On September 27, an alert was issued for residents in the northern part of Tulcea County due to the detection of a group of Russian drones heading toward Ukrainian targets at the border with Romania.
