Romania declared air raid alarm over Russian drones on border with Ukraine
The General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (GIES) of Romania issued an alert for residents in the northern part of Tulcea County. The alarm was triggered by the detection of a group of Russian drones heading toward Ukrainian targets near the Romanian border, citing Digi24.
According to GIES Tulcea, two calls were received on the emergency line 112: one seeking information, and another reporting sounds of explosions on Ukrainian territory.
Residents were notified through the RO-Alert system with recommendations to remain calm and follow instructions for self-protection in case of objects falling from the airspace.
GIES also reminded that the areas under attack are located on the Ukrainian side of the border, and there is no threat to Romanian territory. Residents of the northern part of the county, as well as tourists, were advised not to panic and to call 112 in case of danger.
Russian overnight attack on Ukraine
During the night of September 27, Russian forces launched another massive strike on Ukraine, using missiles and drones. The attack in Izmail, Odesa region, resulted in the deaths of three people and injured 11 others, including a child.
Enemy drones were spotted in the southern part of the region, and in the city of Dnipro, a missile hit an industrial facility, causing a fire.
Air defenses successfully operated in the Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolaiv, and Odesa regions, downing 24 Shahed attack drones. One of the drones violated Romanian airspace, while another was neutralized by Ukrainian electronic warfare systems.
