The Kremlin claims to have studied the information Russian envoy Kirill Dmitriev provided to Russian leader Vladimir Putin following the Miami trip, and that the American side has been contacted, according to a report from Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov to Russian media.
The Russian President's spokesperson said that after Dmitriev reported on the results of his US trip and contacts with the American side, the information was analyzed, and representatives of the Russian and US administrations met as Putin instructed.
"We agreed to continue the dialogue," he added.
Putin's aide, Yuri Ushakov, participated in the telephone conversation on behalf of the Russian side, and several participants joined from the American side.
Peskov again refused to disclose the documents brought by Dmitriev.
The Kremlin believes that "the dissemination of this information may negatively affect the negotiation process."
"We contacted and decided to continue the dialogue. That's all we can say," Peskov said.
Peace plan
From December 9 to 21, talks among the US, Ukrainian, and European delegations, and separately between the US and Russian delegations, took place in Miami.
Russian leader's envoy Kirill Dmitriev, who participated in talks with the US, did not comment on the meeting.
He also suggested that the next round of talks will likely be in Moscow.
Yesterday, the Kremlin said that it is studying the peace plan for Ukraine handed over to Moscow by Dmitriev. Further steps depend on Putin's decisions.
It has been confirmed that on Sunday, December 28, US President Donald Trump will meet Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.
Earlier, US Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker projected the timeline for Ukraine and Russia to conclude a peace agreement.
