US President’s Special Envoy Steve Witkoff said after a meeting in Miami that Russia remains fully committed to achieving peace in Ukraine, according to Witkoff’s post on the social media platform X.

"Russia remains fully committed to achieving peace in Ukraine. Russia highly values the efforts and support of the United States to resolve the Ukrainian conflict and re-establish global security," the statement said.

The US president’s special envoy added that over the past two days in Florida, Russia’s special envoy Kirill Dmitriev held what he described as productive and constructive meetings with the US delegation aimed at advancing President Trump’s peace plan for Ukraine.

US–Ukraine delegation meetings in Miami

As a reminder, Ukraine and the United States held a series of consultations in Miami on December 19–21, focusing on four key documents that form parts of a future peace agreement.

Ukraine was represented by National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov and Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Lieutenant General Andrii Hnatov. The US delegation included President Donald Trump’s special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, as well as White House official Josh Gruenbaum. Key national security advisers from European countries also took part in the discussions.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that December 21 marked the third consecutive day of talks between Ukrainian and US delegations in Florida on the peace plan. Following the meetings, the head of state said he expects a report from the negotiating team.

US peace plan

The United States, Ukraine, and Europe have been working for about a month on refining a new US peace plan aimed at ending the Russia–Ukraine war.

The latest round of negotiations began on Friday, December 19, in Miami.
