Ukrainian forces strike Russian oil refinery, drone base and airfield overnight

On the night of August 30, 2026, units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces carried out strikes against a number of key targets on Russian territory, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The Kirishi oil refinery, also known as Kirishinefteorgsintez, is Russia's second-largest oil refinery by capacity and the largest in the country's Northwest. Its capacity is approximately 20 million metric tons of crude oil per year.
The facility produces motor and aviation fuel, diesel fuel, and other petroleum products. According to Ukraine's General Staff, the plant is involved in supplying the needs of Russian troops.
Another strike targeted Millerovo in the Rostov region. There, Ukrainian forces struck a facility used for the storage, preparation, and launch of attack drones. A fire was also reported at the facility.
In addition, the military airfield in Yeysk, Krasnodar Krai, Russia, was struck. A fire broke out on the facility's grounds following the attack.
Ukraine's General Staff notes that the extent of the damage inflicted on Russia is currently being assessed.
The Russian fuel market is already feeling the effects of Ukrainian strikes on oil refineries. By the end of August, gasoline production in Russia had fallen to approximately 70% of domestic demand.
Moscow has extended the ban on diesel fuel exports for producers until September 30.
