Russian President Vladimir Putin reacted to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s remarks about long-range weapons. In particular, he threatened a "serious response" to any strikes on Russian territory.

"If strikes with such weapons are carried out on Russian territory, the response will be very serious. If not to say, devastating. Let them think about it," the Russian dictator emphasized.

Long‑range weapons of Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said today, October 23, that Ukraine has never carried out strikes on Russian territory using American weapons.

He said that modern weapons produced in Ukraine can strike enemy targets at ranges from 150 to 3,000 km.

On Wednesday, October 22, The Wall Street Journal reported that the administration of US President Donald Trump lifted a key restriction that had prevented Ukraine from striking into Russia with Western missiles.

According to a source for the paper, the decision allows Ukraine to attack enemy military targets on Russian territory.

Note that long‑range US Tomahawk missiles were one of the main topics of the talks between Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Donald Trump in Washington on October 17.

During the meeting, the Ukrainian president proposed to his American counterpart the beginning of Tomahawk deliveries in exchange for thousands of Ukrainian drones. After the talks, Trump still did not agree to transfer the missiles.

RBC‑Ukraine previously wrote that Volodymyr Zelenskyy is convinced that supplying Ukraine with US long‑range Tomahawk missiles could make the Russians sober up and bring them to the negotiating table.
