Zelenskyy responds to rumors about Ukraine striking Russia with Western missiles

The Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine has never carried out strikes on Russian territory using American weapons, the head of state announced this while speaking with journalists.
"We have a clear use of long‑range capabilities of Ukrainian production, and it is we who employ them at ranges from 150 to 3,000 km — these are our modern capabilities," the president said.
According to him, the issue is additional funding that is needed for the mass production of Ukrainian long‑range weapons.
Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine has never used American weapons for long‑range strikes on Russian territory.
"We used various weapons with respectable capabilities, but that was strictly on the territory of combat operations or in preparation for combat missions. So Crimea and the East are Ukraine," he said.
The president added that he cannot speak about using weapons not only of Ukrainian manufacture across the territory of Crimea as if it were Russian territory. He stressed that those were strikes "against temporarily occupied territory."
Lifting the ban on strikes
On Wednesday, October 22, WSJ reported that the administration of US President Donald Trump had lifted a key restriction that had limited Ukraine’s ability to strike Russia with Western missiles.
Sources cited by the outlet noted that this decision allows Ukraine to target enemy military assets deep inside Russia.
Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that the Russians are less afraid of Tomahawk missiles themselves than of how Ukraine could combine them with other weapons.
He stated that the Kremlin panics at even the mere mention of the possibility of providing these missiles to Ukraine.
