US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent is meeting with a Russian delegation. They are discussing a settlement to Russia's war against Ukraine, according to Fox Business correspondent Edward Lawrence.

According to him, the meeting is taking place on the sidelines of the G20 summit.

"The secretary (Bessent – ed.) is pushing President Trump's 28-point peace plan for Ukraine," Lawrence added.

Trump’s peace plan

US President Donald Trump’s peace plan for Ukraine and Russia was published last year.

The 28-point plan proposed by Washington included ideas that were unacceptable to Ukraine.

In particular, under the US plan, Ukraine would have to withdraw all its troops from the Donetsk region. At the same time, according to the document, Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk would be recognized as "de facto Russian," including by the United States.

The US also proposed freezing the fighting in Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has repeatedly stressed that Ukraine will not "give" its territories to Russia.

At the same time, the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) wrote that since the start of the full-scale war, Russia’s leadership has set 15 deadlines for the occupation of Donbas, none of which has been met.
