Zelenskyy: Putin wants war to continue, but September could change a lot

Russian President Vladimir Putin has shown no intention of ending the war against Ukraine. However, important progress in the peace process remains possible on the diplomatic front, according to a statement by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Zelenskyy hints at a pivotal September
The head of state said that Putin must be given the right incentive to end the war rather than continue fighting.
"For now, unfortunately, all intelligence assessments — both ours and those of our partners — all signals coming from Russia indicate that the Russian leader personally still wants war," Zelenskyy said.
The president noted that an overwhelming majority of Russian society is already ready to accept ending the war along the current front line. Putin, however, favors continuing military operations against Ukraine.
"We will see what the representatives of the US president can achieve. September may change a lot, and together with our partners we must do everything possible to protect people, protect lives and secure peace," Zelenskyy said.
Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that a date is currently being discussed for US President Donald Trump’s representatives, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, to visit Kyiv. It would be their first trip to Ukraine.
It was also reported that Ukraine remains in daily contact with representatives of US President Donald Trump and expects diplomatic efforts to intensify as early as August.
In addition, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, during a secret trip to Moscow, reportedly proposed holding a trilateral meeting between Trump, Zelenskyy and Putin in an attempt to bring the war to an end.
