National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov has reported to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the results of the Ukrainian delegation's work in the United States, according to Umerov.
"Over two very productive days in the United States, we held many hours of meetings and negotiations. We managed to achieve significant progress, although some issues still require further refinement," his statement reads.
Umerov thanked the American side for its constructive engagement and emphasized the agreement to maintain constant and close contact in the future.
"We are preparing a full report and will soon present it to the President in person during a meeting in Europe, where our negotiation team is already heading," the NSDC secretary noted.
Ukraine–US negotiations
On November 29, the Ukrainian delegation traveled to the United States for further discussions on the peace plan. The talks began on Sunday, November 30.
The United States is seeking to resolve disagreements with Ukraine over two key points of the peace plan — the issues of territory and security guarantees.
After the meeting, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the sides had made progress, noting that the negotiations were complex.
NSDC Secretary Rustem Umerov, who leads the Ukrainian delegation, informed President Volodymyr Zelenskyy about the results. He said there had been significant progress toward securing a just peace, adding that the positions of Ukraine and the United States had moved closer.
Meanwhile, media reports that Trump's Special Envoy Steve Witkoff is expected to travel to Moscow today to continue the negotiations, but this time with the Russian side.
Today, December 1, Steve Witkoff held another meeting with Rustem Umerov. The two also discussed the results of yesterday's talks with President Zelenskyy.
