US says Ukrainian strikes on Russian refineries are affecting global energy markets, warning of pressure on worldwide prices, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent made the remarks in an interview with Fox News.

Bessent linked Ukrainian strikes on Russian oil refineries to developments in the global energy market, saying the attacks are adding pressure to worldwide prices.

"We are going through an energy shock right now due to both the war in Ukraine, because Ukraine has decided that they want to blow up Russian energy assets and refine products. So that is creating upward price pressure on a global basis," Bessent said.

The US Treasury secretary thus directly linked strikes on Russian energy infrastructure to current developments in the global market.

Meanwhile, oil prices have risen for a fourth consecutive day amid renewed tensions between the US and Iran. Markets fear supply disruptions through the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for global oil shipments.

At the same time, US President Donald Trump said that reaching a deal with Iran is no longer a priority for him, as he prefers the current situation in which the Strait of Hormuz remains under control.
