The Ukrainian and US delegations have concluded peace plan talks in Miami. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Ukraine's Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov both described the meeting as productive, according to Suspilne.
After the meeting, Rubio emphasized that the US is committed to rebuilding Ukraine. He added that the country is being prepared not just for a ceasefire, but for long-term prosperity.
"I think we built on that again today, but there's more work to be done. Obviously, there's another party involved here that'll have to be a part of the equation and that'll continue later this week when Mr. Witkoff travels to Moscow... So much work remains, but today was, again, a very productive and useful session," Rubio said.
He also stressed that the US remains realistic about how difficult it will be to end the war in Ukraine. However, he noted that he is realistically looking at the progress that has already been made.
Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov expressed gratitude to the American people, the US leadership, and the US delegation members.
He described the meeting as "productive and successful" and added that further details would be provided at a later stage.
"We have completed a difficult but productive negotiation session in Florida. We have significant progress on the path to establishing a just peace," he said.
Umerov stressed that there is still much work ahead and added that "consultations and coordination of further steps toward peace for Ukraine" are ongoing.
Ukraine-US talks
On November 29, the Ukrainian delegation traveled to the United States to continue discussions on the peace plan. On November 30, the meeting in Miami began.
Reports indicate that the United States aims to resolve two key issues of the peace plan with Ukraine today, November 30, specifically territorial issues and security guarantees.
Before meeting the Ukrainian delegation, US Secretary of State Mark Rubio outlined the goals of the peace plan, emphasizing that it concerns not only ending the war but also securing Ukraine's sovereignty and prosperity.
Ukraine's First Deputy Foreign Minister Sergiy Kyslytsya called the start of negotiations in the US successful.
