Ukraine is already seeing results from the shift in the US position toward Russia. In this context, Trump's August 8 deadline for the Kremlin won't significantly change anything for Ukraine — weapons are coming, and pressure on Russia continues, said political strategist Taras Zahorodnii.

The expert noted that there are already results for Ukraine. Germany has almost transferred two batteries of the Patriot air defense system — and that's only what has been publicly announced.

"Weapons are being supplied, weapons are being sold. Sanctions are being lifted from Venezuela, India is being pressured not to buy oil — that's 30% of the stations. Russia's budget deficit will be eight times larger by the end of the year than they had planned. Ukraine is actively striking railways, if you've noticed — the chemical industry as well, and so on," he said.

Zahorodnii recalled that Trump had also issued warnings to Russia. Judging by the Kremlin's reaction, there will definitely be consequences for the Russian regime.

"We shouldn't be interested in that. We should focus exclusively on our own goals, which we must push forward," he added.

Trump issued an ultimatum to Russia

Trump recently threatened Russia with new sanctions if Russian President Vladimir Putin does not agree to end the war against Ukraine. He gave Moscow 50 days to make a decision.

However, on July 28, Trump announced that he had decided to change the terms of his ultimatum regarding significant tariffs for Putin.

Later, the American leader clarified that the Kremlin chief had 10–12 days left, and Trump also stated that he is considering not only secondary tariffs but also secondary sanctions against Russia.
