A Russian drone struck a kindergarten in the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv following a massive night attack. A man was killed and seven people were injured, according to a statement by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"The strike of a Russian drone on a kindergarten in Kharkiv came after a night of massive attacks. Unfortunately, one person is known to have been killed. My condolences to the family," the president said.
According to him, seven people have been injured and are receiving medical assistance.
"All the children have been evacuated and are in shelters. According to preliminary information, many are experiencing acute stress reactions," he added.
Zelenskyy emphasized that there can be no and must not be any justification for a drone strike on a kindergarten.
"Obviously, Russia is becoming more brazen. These strikes are a slap in the face to everyone who insists on a peaceful solution. Bandits and terrorists can be put in their place only by force," he stressed.
Massive attack on Kyiv and regions of Ukraine
During the night of October 22, Russia again attacked Kyiv and other parts of Ukraine with drones and missiles. Explosions were heard in the capital starting at around five in the morning.
Damage has been recorded in at least four districts. Rescue workers and medics are operating at the sites.
According to preliminary information, several people were killed in the attack, and among the injured is a two-year-old child. Apartments in several buildings were damaged, and infrastructure destruction was reported.
Rescue services released photos showing the aftermath of the enemy attack on the capital. Zelenskyy also responded to the strike on Kyiv and addressed Ukraine's partners.
Other regions also came under enemy fire. In Zaporizhzhia, more than ten people were injured during the night attack, and residents were evacuated from dangerous areas. About two thousand consumers were left without electricity.
More details on the consequences of the Russian attack as of the morning can be found in the RBC-Ukraine report.
