Rescuers reveal aftermath of Russian night attack on Ukraine's capital

Russian forces launched a massive overnight and early-morning attack on Kyiv using drones and missiles, sparking several fires and causing fatalities, according to Ukraine's State Emergency Service (DSNS).
"Rescuers are eliminating the consequences of the night attack on the capital. During the night and morning of October 22, the enemy carried out a combined strike on Kyiv, and two people were killed," the State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported.
In the Dniprovskyi district, another enemy attack hit a residential building. A fire broke out on the sixth floor of a sixteen-story building. Ten people were rescued and brought outside to the fresh air.
During the elimination of the consequences of the enemy strike, unfortunately, the bodies of two deceased persons were found. The fire has now been extinguished.
In the Darnytskyi district, as a result of a drone strike, a fire broke out in a seventeen-story residential building between the 11th and 16th floors. The fire has been localized. Fifteen people were rescued, including two children.
Also, at another address, a fire occurred in a two-story non-residential building. The fire has been localized.
In the Desnianskyi district, preliminary reports indicate that the facade of a ten-story building was damaged in the enemy attack. A car caught fire in the yard, and a gas pipeline was damaged. During firefighting efforts, 20 people were rescued.
In the Pecherskyi district, preliminary reports indicate that a drone hit the 21st floor of a 25-story residential building. A minor fire was extinguished before the arrival of firefighting and rescue units.
Attack on Ukraine on October 22
On the night of October 22, Ukraine came under a massive enemy attack. The Russian strike targeted the capital, and the aftermath is currently being recorded in several districts of Kyiv.
In Zaporizhzhia, more than ten people were injured following the overnight Russian attack. Rescuers evacuated residents from dangerous areas. The regional administration also reported that nearly 2,000 people were left without electricity due to the night assault.
The Russian army also attacked Izmail in the Odesa region. As a result of the strike, damage to energy and port infrastructure was reported.
In the Poltava region, facilities of the oil and gas industry were damaged following Russian attacks during the night of October 22.
