During the night of October 22, Russian forces attacked Izmail in the Odesa region. As a result of the strike, energy and port infrastructure were damaged, according to the Izmail District State Administration.

Local media reported that explosions were heard in Izmail overnight. Earlier, the Ukrainian Air Force had detected drones moving toward the Odesa region. Following the blasts, residents reported power outages in the city.

Official statements have now been released regarding the consequences of the attack.

"As a result of the air strike on Izmail, the city’s energy and port infrastructure were damaged. Power supply is being gradually restored," the statement said.

The Izmail District Administration added that the emergency response headquarters and all relevant services are working to mitigate the aftermath.

"All critical infrastructure is operational. Fortunately, there are no casualties. The fires were promptly extinguished," the administration noted.

Strikes on Izmail

This is not the first time Izmail has come under attack.

On the night of September 2, Russian forces also struck the port infrastructure of the Izmail district. Emergency services quickly extinguished the resulting fires.

Earlier, on the night of August 20, Russian drones targeted the area again, damaging infrastructure and production facilities and sparking fires at the scene.
