Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is ready to meet with Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin anywhere except Moscow, Presidential Office adviser Serhii Leshchenko says.

"Volodymyr Zelenskyy is ready to meet with Vladimir Putin anywhere, but not in Moscow. Because Moscow is the capital of an aggressor state. Such a format of negotiations is impossible," Adviser Leshchenko said.

Note that this was effectively a response to the Russian side, as earlier today, Putin's aide Yuri Ushakov said that if Zelenskyy wants a meeting, he should call Moscow. According to Ushakov, Putin is ready to meet, and the meeting can be arranged.

Ceasefire, peace

Ukraine and Russia, with US mediation, have agreed to a three-day ceasefire, which, according to US President Donald Trump, will take place on May 9, 10, and 11. He also suggested that the ceasefire between the sides could last longer than three days.

As for broader peace talks, they effectively stalled in February after the United States launched a military operation against Iran, shifting much of the Trump administration's attention to that issue. However, Zelenskyy does not rule out that negotiations on Ukraine could resume by late spring or early summer.

Also, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov has said today that the United States wants to accelerate negotiations, but claimed the peace process remains "too complicated," and added that reaching a settlement will take a long time.
