Ukraine expects representatives of US President Donald Trump to visit Kyiv around the transition from spring to summer, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated.
The head of state spoke about the results of a report delivered by National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov following meetings in the United States.
“The talks were substantive. We are coordinating the schedule of necessary visits and expect representatives of the President of the United States in Kyiv at the turn of spring and summer. We hope that this time we will be able to implement what was planned and intensify diplomacy,” the president said.
Zelenskyy also said that humanitarian issues were discussed, including the continuation of prisoner-of-war exchanges.
“We are finalizing details of agreements that could guarantee security. It is important that there is constructive engagement, and we must move toward peace while strengthening Ukraine and bilateral relations with America,” he stressed.
Recently, Donald Trump stated that he continues to hold regular talks with Russian leader Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy regarding ending the war. The American leader said that the hatred between the leaders of Ukraine and Russia is “madness.”
It is worth noting that The New York Times previously wrote that neither Ukraine nor Russia has a clear plan for either peace or victory. The publication noted that without an active role from Washington and significant pressure on the Kremlin, the prospects for reaching an agreement appear slim.
RBC-Ukraine also reported that Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico would deliver a message from Volodymyr Zelenskyy to Russian leader Vladimir Putin during his visit to Moscow.
