US Republican Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick sent a letter to President Donald Trump following the news about the suspension of military aid to Ukraine. Fitzpatrick is demanding an urgent briefing with Trump.

Fitzpatrick wrote that the news about the suspension of military aid to Ukraine caused him "serious concern." He noted that the development came amid intensified Russian airstrikes against Ukraine.

At the same time, according to Fitzpatrick, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are not only defending their homeland but also "holding the front line of freedom." The United States, he said, must stand for peace through strength.

"I have formally requested an emergency briefing from the White House and the Department of Defense to clarify these reports, review our nation's weapons and munitions stockpiles, and ensure the United States remains fully committed to providing Ukraine with the resources it urgently needs to defend its people and preserve the cause of freedom," he wrote, attaching a photocopy of the letter.

Suspension of arms deliveries to Ukraine: What is known

On the evening of July 1, it became known that the Pentagon had suspended certain deliveries of precision munitions to Ukraine, including air defense missiles. Some media outlets reported that the decision was made by Elbridge A. Colby, the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy and a long-time critic of military support for Ukraine. Others claim the move came directly from the new Secretary of Defense, former TV host Pete Hegseth.

Ukraine has not received any official notifications from the United States regarding the halt. The Ministry of Defense submitted a request to the Pentagon for clarification, while the Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the chargé d'affaires of the US Embassy.

Meanwhile, the White House has already confirmed the suspension of some weapons deliveries to Ukraine, with the statement delivered by White House spokeswoman Anna Kelly. US Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker also confirmed the information, stating that the move was made because the United States wants to ensure its own readiness.
