After the end of the war with Iran, the United States focused on achieving peace between Ukraine and Russia, US President Donald Trump said this during a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron.
According to Trump, yesterday, June 14, he held very productive phone conversations with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"And I see, maybe we can do something there (achieving peace — ed.). I really do. I think they're both open to it. So now that this is finished (referring to the war with Iran — ed.), we're going to be focusing on that, see if we can get that one done," the president emphasized.
He also said that every month in Russia’s war against Ukraine, "25,000 people are dying," mostly soldiers, and that this "should not be happening."
Zelenskyy–Trump call
On June 14, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US President Donald Trump held a phone conversation.
According to the source, the call lasted about 30 minutes. All key issues were discussed.
Zelenskyy later also confirmed that he had spoken with Trump. The Ukrainian leader said they discussed ideas on how to bring peace between Ukraine and Russia closer as soon as possible.
The leaders agreed to hold a personal meeting on the sidelines of the G7 summit.
The Ukrainian side also proposed organizing a meeting between Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin during the G7 summit, but Moscow did not provide a reasonable response.
