According to the source, the proposal was sent to the Kremlin through various channels, including intermediaries, diplomats, and intelligence services.
It envisaged talks between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin in the presence of G7 leaders, including US President Donald Trump.
However, Russia did not provide a clear response, the source noted. Instead, an aide to the Russian leader, Fyodor Ushakov, suggested "coming to Moscow."
Afterwards, a strike occurred, which officials in Bankova Street (a historic street in the center of Kyiv, known as the location of the Office of the President of Ukraine - ed.) also consider to some extent a "response" to the proposal for a meeting, the RBC-Ukraine source added.
Zelenskyy proposes meeting with Putin
Recently, Zelenskyy wrote an open letter to Putin, in which he proposed a one-on-one meeting to initiate an end to the war. He suggested that talks could take place in Switzerland, Türkiye, or in Arab countries.
The president also said today that he had proposed meeting Putin on the sidelines of the G7 summit in France, which is set to take place later this week.
In addition, Zelenskyy spoke by phone with Trump yesterday. The leaders agreed to meet at the G7 summit.
