5 of 9 units of Ukrainian nuclear power plants reduced their output during the missile attack on December 13. The Russian army attacks Ukraine's energy sector again, IAEA reports.

“Today, 5 of Ukraine’s 9 operating nuclear reactor units have reduced power output due to renewed attacks on energy infrastructure,” the UN Atomic Energy Agency said in a statement.

Missile attack on December 13

On the morning of December 13, the Russian army conducted another massive attack on Ukraine. According to Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko, the massive missile attack targeted the energy sector.

A total of 287 enemy air attack vehicles were detected - 94 missiles and 193 UAVs.

It was confirmed that 80 Kh-101/Kh-55SM/Kalibr/Iskander-K cruise missiles, one Iskander-M ballistic missile, 80 Shahed attack UAVs and unidentified drones were shot down.

In addition, 105 Russian drones did not reach their targets (locally lost) due to active counteraction by the Defense Forces, five returned to Russia, and one returned to Belarus.

Following the missile attack, Ukraine increased the number of scheduled blackouts. Three out of six phases have been applied, meaning half of Ukrainians are now without power.
