The target of the Russian massive missile strike on Ukraine on December 13 is the energy sector, German Galushchenko, Minister of Energy of Ukraine, reports.

"The enemy continues its terror. Once again, the energy sector across Ukraine is under massive attack," Galushchenko stated.

According to Ukraine's Minister, energy workers are taking all necessary measures to minimize the negative impact on the power system.

"As soon as the security situation allows, the extent of the damage will be assessed," Galushchenko added.

Missile strikes on Ukraine

On the morning of December 13, the Russian army carried out another massive attack on Ukraine. The enemy used Tu-95MS bombers, Kalibr missiles from the Black Sea, as well as ballistic missiles. Explosions have been reported across the country, including in the Odesa, Cherkasy, Kharkiv, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Khmelnytskyi regions.

In Odesa, strong explosions have left several districts without water and electricity.

Ukraine managed to get through September and October without scheduled power outages. However, blackouts began after a massive attack on November 17. Another Russian large-scale shelling followed on November 28.

As RBC-Ukraine reported, there are no grounds to expect an improvement in the electricity situation after the Russian shelling. The optimistic forecast that Ukraine would go through the winter without any power outages did not materialize. Even at zero temperatures, Ukraine is forced to conserve electricity and apply one or two rounds of blackouts for consumers.
