Ukraine sets defense priorities after record Russian airstrike

Following a record overnight attack by Russia, during which nearly 750 aerial targets were launched, Ukraine has an urgent need to strengthen its air defense, stated Ukraine's Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiha.
"Instead of peace efforts, Russia launched a record nearly 750 drones and missiles at Ukraine overnight," emphasized Sybiha.

Largest combined attack on Ukraine – July 9
On the night of July 9, Ukraine experienced the most massive aerial strike since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion. Russian forces launched a large-scale assault using kamikaze drones and missiles, resulting in explosions in Kyiv and several other regions.
The most intense strike that night was recorded in Lutsk, which became the primary target of the largest single attack since the beginning of the war. The strikes caused large fires throughout the city.
Additional attacks were carried out in Kyiv region, including in the Brovary district, which was among the enemy's targets.
According to Ukraine's Air Force, Russia used over 700 aerial weapons, including 728 drones of various types, among them hundreds of kamikaze drones.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called the attack symbolic, stating that despite numerous efforts to achieve peace, Russia continues to choose war.
Meanwhile, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said that after such an attack, diplomatic tools for influencing Moscow have been exhausted.
