Merz says no room left for diplomacy in Russia's war against Ukraine

After Russia's most powerful overnight attack on civilian targets in Ukraine, Germany declared that diplomatic means with Moscow have been ended, and that Kyiv can continue to rely on support, T-online reports, citing German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.
In particular, Merz promised to continue providing German assistance to Ukraine.
At the same time, during budget debates in the Bundestag, a German high-ranking official criticized Russia for carrying out the most serious attacks on civilian targets in Ukraine overnight.
"Diplomatic means have been exhausted," the chancellor emphasized.
Largest combined attack on Ukraine on July 9
On the night of July 9, Ukraine suffered its most massive aerial attack since the beginning of the full-scale invasion. Russian forces launched a large-scale strike using kamikaze drones and missiles, causing explosions in Kyiv and several other regions.
The main target of the enemy was Lutsk in the Volun region - the city became the main target of the largest drone and missile assault since the start of the war. The strike sparked fires across the city.
Kyiv region also came under attack. One of the enemy’s targets was the Brovary district.
According to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Russia used over 700 aerial strike assets in this attack, including 728 drones of various types, hundreds of which were kamikaze drones.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that this was a telling attack. Ukrainian leader stressed that at a time when so many attempts have been made to achieve peace and cease ceasefire, Russia continues to reject them all.
