The Ukrainian delegation will arrive in the United States this week and meet with the US President’s special envoy Steve Witkoff. The special envoy of President Donald Trump and the Ukrainian representatives will discuss security guarantees for Kyiv, Bloomberg informs.

A source familiar with the discussion plans said that the key topic will be security guarantees. On the Ukrainian side, the talks will include Andriy Yermak, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, and Rustem Umerov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council.

In addition to discussing security guarantees, the agenda will include a possible future bilateral meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The outlet notes that the Ukrainian delegation will arrive for the talks amid intense debates over providing security guarantees to Ukraine.

"While Trump insists on a quick agreement between Kyiv and Moscow to end the war, Ukraine’s supporters are focused on defining the security guarantees they can offer to ensure the implementation of any agreement reached with Putin," the article states.

Security guarantees: Work of diplomacy

Earlier, on August 27, Witkoff confirmed in an interview with US media that he would meet with Ukrainian representatives in New York this week. According to him, the parties will discuss the next stage of ending the war.

Prior to this, Witkoff stated that the US expects to achieve an end to the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East by the end of this year.

On August 25, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also said that the Ukrainian side would hold a series of meetings with American partners this week, during which a basic plan for security guarantees is expected to be developed.

On the same day, US President Donald Trump publicly assured that Europe would provide "significant" guarantees, with the US supporting these commitments.
