The United States aims to achieve a resolution of Russia’s war against Ukraine by the end of the year. Washington also wants to see peace in the Middle East within the same timeframe, said US Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff during a US government meeting.

At the meeting, which was also attended by President Donald Trump, Witkoff said that, in his view, the American leader has resolved "more than seven conflicts" in just eight months.

"I travel all over the world. In hostage square, they talk about you reverentially. It's quite amazing," he said.

The Special Envoy recalled that he had been in the Gaza Strip, where the United States delivered food and humanitarian aid. According to him, people there applauded Trump and held signs in his support.

Witkoff added that talks are currently underway on bringing new countries into the Abraham Accords — the series of peace agreements brokered by the United States in 2020 between Israel and several Arab nations (the UAE, Bahrain, later Sudan, and Morocco) aimed at normalizing relations.

"Peace through strength really works. Russia-Ukraine, Iran, Israel-Hamas – we're having meetings all this week on all three of those conflicts, and we hope to settle them before the end of this year. Your team is nothing short of incredible," he said.

Witkoff also noted that he wants the Nobel Committee to award the Nobel Peace Prize specifically to Trump.

Predictions about ending the war

Earlier, US Vice President JD Vance said he expects Russia’s war against Ukraine to end within three to six months.

At the same time, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva said that Russia’s war against Ukraine is already close to ending.
