Russian ships go to sea and launch missiles at Ukraine an average of two to three times each month, according to Ukrainian Navy spokesperson Dmytro Pletenchuk.

According to him, Russia consistently deploys its ships two to three times a month and carries out the same number of missile launches.

"At the beginning of this year, there was fairly extensive use, with two surface ships and a submarine involved, something we had not seen for a long time. As a result, the number of missiles was also higher than usual, but the overall trend remains unchanged," the Navy spokesperson said.

Pletenchuk added that on average, Russia carries out several salvos per month, mostly as part of large-scale combined missile and drone attacks.

Strikes on Russian navy vessels

In December, it became known that drones of Ukraine’s Security Service attacked a Russian submarine in the port of Novorossiysk. This is the first recorded case in history of a drone strike on a submarine.

Later, Pletenchuk said that preparations to hit the Russian submarine Varshavyanka in the port of Novorossiysk were complex and multi-layered.

The Navy spokesperson also noted that despite all protective measures, the port of Novorossiysk remains a dangerous location for Russian vessels, as Ukrainian forces are capable of reaching them there.

In addition, the Navy reported that Russia is launching Kalibr cruise missiles from the Black Sea in limited numbers due to technical difficulties and unfavorable weather conditions. The effectiveness of these missiles has declined compared to the early stages of the full-scale invasion.

Pletenchuk also said that striking Russian ships immediately before the launch of Kalibr missiles is an extremely difficult task, as the window of opportunity lasts only a few hours.
