President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Donald Trump, who won the US presidential election today, maintain a longstanding and constructive dialogue. Both countries will work towards achieving a just peace, according to the Twitter (X) account of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andrii Sybiha.

"President Zelenskyy and President Trump have a long-standing, constructive, and result-oriented dialogue. We will work together to strengthen the Ukraine-US strategic partnership and bring a comprehensive, just, and lasting peace closer," stated the head of the ministry.

In addition, Sybiha emphasized that Ukraine is counting on America's decisive leadership.

US elections

The US presidential election took place on Tuesday, November 5. Kamala Harris from the Democratic Party and Donald Trump, representing the Republican Party, were the main contenders for the White House.

At the same time, Western officials released an open letter urging European countries to prepare for the potential consequences of the American elections, expressing concerns over possible shifts in US foreign policy.

Political scientist Oleh Saakyan also highlighted the risks of a potential internal crisis in America following the completion of the electoral process.

On November 6, Donald Trump declared himself the new president of the United States while addressing his supporters. Later, President Zelenskyy congratulated him on his victory.
