The Ukrainian Defense Forces struck an oil refinery in Ufa and a military plant in Penza during the night of July 1, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
As Zelenskyy said, for the second time, Ukraine's sanctions response to Russia's prolongation of the war has reached the oil refinery in Ufa, one of Russia's largest producers of lubricants. The distance is more than 1,300 kilometers from the front line.
In the Penza region, Ukrainian drones also reached a strategic facility of the Russian military-industrial complex involved in the development and production of components for missile weapons used by Russia to strike Ukraine. The distance to the target is about 600 kilometers from the front line.
"Every day, our plan for imposing Ukrainian long-range sanctions is being implemented. This is an entirely just response to everything Russia is doing against us. Peace is needed, and this is exactly what Russia's leadership must realize. Russia must end its war. And Russia's leadership has every opportunity to do so," the president emphasized.

Strikes on Russian oil refineries
Ukraine has attacked eight of Russia's ten largest oil refineries. Some of them have come under attack more than once.
In particular, on the night of June 28, drones struck an oil refinery in the city of Slavyansk-on-Kuban in Russia's Krasnodar region. A series of powerful explosions was heard in the area of the Slavyansk oil refinery, after which a large fire broke out at the facility.
It is known that at least several petroleum product storage tanks caught fire.
