UK speeds up air defense supplies to Ukraine after Russia's strike

London is accelerating deliveries of air defense systems and anti-drone systems to Ukraine after large-scale Russian drone attacks over the past 24 hours, according to UK Defense Secretary John Healey.

UK Defense Secretary John Healey announced a decision to speed up military support for Ukraine amid the recent wave of Russian drone attacks.
In his post on X, he said Ukraine has faced "shocking Russian drone attacks" over the past 24 hours.
In response, the British government decided to speed up deliveries of air defense systems and anti-drone equipment.
Faster military aid
According to Healey, the UK Ministry of Defense has ordered the fastest possible delivery of the relevant weapons systems.
The systems are intended to strengthen Ukraine’s air defenses against drone attacks.
Support for Ukraine
The head of the UK’s Defense Ministry stressed that the United Kingdom continues to support Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression.
"We stand with Ukraine in the face of Putin’s aggression. Our thoughts are with Ukrainian families," John Healey wrote.
London thus confirmed its continued military support for Kyiv amid ongoing Russian attacks.
Attack on Ukraine: latest updates
During the night of May 14, Russia launched a new wave of combined strikes after earlier daytime attacks. According to Ukrainian officials, Kyiv was the primary target, with missiles and around 100 attack drones of various types directed at the capital.
Overall, on May 13-14, Russian forces used 1,567 drones and 56 missiles. Preliminary data indicate that Ukrainian air defenses intercepted about 94% of the drones and 73% of the missiles.
Authorities in the capital have reported nine deaths and dozens of injuries, while at least 20 people are still considered missing. Kyiv has declared May 15 a day of mourning for those killed in the latest massive attack on the city.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has instructed the Defense Forces and intelligence agencies to prepare response measures following Russia’s massive attacks carried out on May 13 and 14.
According to the President, Ukraine is working on a comprehensive response to the latest missile and drone strikes targeting the country.
Meanwhile, Patrol Police released footage of the first minutes after a Russian missile struck a high-rise residential building in Kyiv’s Darnytskyi district. The video shows the aftermath of the strike and officers working at the scene.
