Patrol police officers released footage showing the first minutes after a Russian strike hit a high-rise apartment building in Kyiv’s Darnytskyi district. Officers, together with residents, rescued wounded people from damaged apartments, according to Oleksii Biloshytskyi, First Deputy Head of the Patrol Police Department.

Response at the strike site

According to Oleksii Biloshytskyi, patrol officers were among the first to arrive at the attack sites. Police provided first aid to victims, carried people out of the rubble, and transported the injured to hospitals in patrol vehicles.

"Together with caring citizens, we provided first aid and carried wounded people out of damaged buildings. We transported the injured to hospitals in patrol cars and cleared debris," Biloshytskyi said.

In addition to rescuing civilians, officers helped extinguish fires, ensured access for emergency vehicles, and directed traffic in difficult areas.

Aftermath of the massive attack

Destruction was reported in nine districts of the capital following a combined missile and drone attack, including Shevchenkivskyi, Pecherskyi, and Darnytskyi districts.

Residential buildings, non-residential facilities, a business center, a car dealership, garages, and private vehicles were damaged.

"A horrific night in the capital: patrol officers’ body cameras captured efforts to help residents in areas hit by enemy strikes. The enemy cynically launched a massive combined attack," the First Deputy Head stressed.

Rescue operations at the strike sites are still ongoing.

Large-scale attack on Ukraine on May 14

Russia carried out a prolonged combined attack on Ukraine using strategic aviation, ballistic missiles, and hundreds of drones.

The Russian army launched one of the largest attacks on Kyiv, destroying one section of a nine-story residential building in the Darnytskyi district. Strikes on energy infrastructure were also reported in Kremenchuk.
