Inside the destruction: What Kyiv's residential building looks like after Russia's strike

Russian forces launched one of the largest attacks on Kyiv overnight on May 14. In the Darnytskyi district, an entire section of a residential nine-story building was completely destroyed, leaving people dead and injured.
RBC-Ukraine visited the scene and documented the aftermath of what Ukraine describes as another Russian war crime.
Following the overnight strike, parts of the apartment building collapsed. A total of 18 apartments were destroyed after an entire entrance section gave way.

Rescue workers are continuing to clear the rubble. A gas station also caught fire after the strike, while blast waves shattered windows in nearby buildings and damaged surrounding stores.
A shopping center located next to the apartment building was partially destroyed as well.

At least three people have been confirmed dead and more than 40 injured, including children. Dozens of residents were rescued, but officials believe more people could still be trapped under the debris.

Massive attack on Ukraine
During the night of May 14, Russia launched a new large-scale combined attack on Ukraine using attack drones, cruise missiles, ballistic missiles, and aeroballistic missiles. Kyiv was the primary target.
According to Ukraine’s Air Force, Russian troops fired 56 missiles and 675 drones at Ukraine overnight.
A rescue operation is still underway in Kyiv after a Russian drone strike destroyed an entire section of the nine-story residential building.
Three people were killed and more than 40 were wounded. Officials say people may still be trapped beneath the rubble.
In total, damage was reported at 20 locations, including residential buildings, a school, a veterinary clinic, and other civilian infrastructure.
Destruction was also recorded in the Kyiv region and several other parts of Ukraine.
