Trump team fears losing control over Ukraine if Tomahawks approved — Axios

Donald Trump's White House team is worried about losing control over Ukraine's use of Tomahawk missiles if they're sent to Kyiv, Axios says.
A source close to the Ukrainian government told the agency about US concerns over the possible loss of control over Ukraine.
Axios recalls that Trump announced an almost final decision on the transfer of Tomahawk missiles to Kyiv. It is also mentioned that the US leader intends to ask some questions about Kyiv's use of these missiles.
Trump says that he has to ask where they are sending them and that he would ask some questions, adding that he does not want escalation.
For their part, a Ukrainian official and a source close to the Ukrainian government say they do not know what decision Trump has made.
Tomahawk for Ukraine
There is increasing media coverage of the possible supply of Tomahawk long-range missiles to Ukraine, which could strike military targets deep inside Russia and thus influence the Kremlin in terms of peace negotiations.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is in no hurry to reveal details about whether Ukraine has requested the supply of Tomahawks. However, the media reported that the head of state discussed this issue with US officials in New York.
In general, Kyiv has repeatedly raised the issue of supplying long-range weapons to Ukraine over the past year.
While this was being actively discussed, Trump made a statement that he had almost decided on the transfer of Tomahawks to Ukraine.
Russia has already responded to these reports, with Vladimir Putin threatening a serious escalation if long-range missiles are transferred to Kyiv.
Meanwhile, Putin himself also stated that transferring Tomahawks to Ukraine threatens to undermine the positive prospects that had been emerging in relations between the two countries.
