Kremlin warns of major escalation over potential Tomahawk supply to Ukraine

The transfer of American long-range Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine could lead to a "serious escalation" as they "can be equipped with nuclear warheads," according to a statement by Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov to Russian media.
Peskov thus commented on the statement by US President Donald Trump, who announced an almost finalized decision to supply Tomahawk missiles to Kyiv.
"We understand that we need to wait for clearer statements, if they come. I will repeat once again — regarding arms supplies, first they happen, and then statements are made. At least that was the case under the Biden administration. As for Moscow's position, it was quite unequivocally outlined by Putin at a recent meeting of the Valdai Discussion Club," the Kremlin spokesperson said.
On October 7, it became known that Donald Trump had practically decided to transfer Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine.
At the same time, he stated that he wants to understand how Ukraine plans to use these missiles. The US president also emphasized that he is not seeking escalation.
Tomahawk supply to Ukraine: What is known
Media outlets have been reporting for several weeks on the possible delivery of long-range Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine, a topic that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy recently discussed with US counterparts in New York.
According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine submitted requests to the United States for weapons, but he refrained from confirming the rumors about Tomahawk deliveries.
US Vice President JD Vance confirmed to the media that Washington is discussing supplying such missiles to Ukraine, but President Trump will make the final decision.
Russian President Vladimir Putin threatened "a completely new stage of escalation" with the United States in the event of such a transfer to Kyiv.
At the same time, the Kremlin leader acknowledged that the use of Tomahawk missiles by Ukraine would cause significant damage to Russia.
