US President Donald Trump said he has practically decided to transfer Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine, according to a White House YouTube broadcast.

According to Trump, the decision to send Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine has been practically made.

US President Donald Trump said he first wants to understand how Ukraine intends to use the Tomahawk missiles before finalizing the decision on their transfer.

"I think I want to find out what they're doing with them. Yes, you know, where are they sending them? I guess I'd have to ask that question," he said.

Trump again repeated that the war between Russia and Ukraine "should never have started," adding that "bad judgment" was made on both sides.

According to him, no one looks good in this war.

"This week, they lost over 7,000 soldiers between the two of them. This is every week they're losing 7,000, 8,000, 5,000," Trump said, citing statistics.

When asked by a journalist about the range of the Tomahawk missiles, Trump replied:

"I would ask some questions. I'm not looking to see escalation."

Background on the Tomahawk transfer

Reports that the Ukrainian Armed Forces could receive these missiles from the United States have circulated in the media for several weeks. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that Kyiv had submitted requests for additional weapons to the US but declined to confirm speculation specifically about the Tomahawks.

Meanwhile, US Vice President J. D. Vance told reporters that Washington was discussing the potential supply of such missiles to Ukraine but emphasized that the final decision rests solely with Donald Trump.

Vladimir Putin said that delivering and using Tomahawk missiles against Russia would mark "a completely new stage of escalation" with the United States and would "damage" relations between Moscow and Washington.

However, he was forced to admit that the use of these missiles by Ukraine would cause significant damage to Russia.
